Do you have a fourth or fifth grade boy who loves to read, but needs practice distilling their thoughts and crafting ideas? Designed to build confidence and community among boys while bolstering their storytelling skills, this weekly writing workshop uses mentor texts to facilitate a deeper understanding of character, plot, world-building and a wide variety of genres. We’ll use traditional prompts as well as video, photography and illustration to spark writing, and play games to strengthen the writers' voices and build connections among the participants.
The Intuitive Writing Project has run classes in Orinda for more than a decade. Many groups form strong bonds and lasting friendships, continuing to write together for years. We use the Amherst Writing Method, which is rooted in the belief that everyone is a writer, that spoken and written voices can only grow clearer and stronger with practice and validation and that positive feedback and encouragement are pathways to lifelong creative freedom.
